Blokes and Birds – A collection of amusing birdwatching anecdotes.

Collins Bird Guide – Probably the best field guide to the Birds of Britain and Europe.

Guide to the Birds of Thailand – Lekagul and Round’s ground-breaking field guide to the birds of Thailand.

Munias and Mannikins – A wonderful book on the behaviour and ecology of munias and mannikins in the wild and in captivity.

Pocket Guide to Birds of the Indian Subcontinent - An excellent pocket-sized field guide to the birds of this region.

Shorebirds: An Identification Guide to the Waders of the World – An excellent identification guide to the waders of the world.

The Slater Field Guide to Australian Birds – A very nice, pocket-sized field guide to Australian birds with distribution maps.

Starlings and Mynas – The Helm guide to this family of birds with excellent illustrations and distribution maps.

Stonechats – Superb Helm guide to the stonechats of the world, including ecology and regional subspecies.

The Life of Birds – The book that goes with the excellent BBC television series of the same name.
